Permanence
Agape parents,
And empathetic friends,
A happy love story,
And the approval of an audience,
Oh how much I’d love them to be forever,
How I yearn for permanence,
How dearly I yearn for permanence.
But,
When you die,
When you refuse to cross the road,
Or when you choose another,
And just get bitter over me,
The touchstones of my heart get muddled,
Only to be forever so,
That is the only permanence I achieve,
I wish I didn’t yearn for permanence,
I dearly wish I never yearn for permanence.
