Felicity 2021 – Day 2

Fresh, fabulous, and fun. Felicity day one had set the bar of expectations high, and day two delivered in full. With new events and workshops, it was definitely a day to remember. 

These are the events that made Felicity day two so memorable:

RoastPlay (LitClub)

The RoastPlay event was held by the LitClub. Players went in teams of two, roleplaying as their favourite TV show/anime characters in a wild battle of words, wit, and sass. The prelims were held on day one (25th February), with the semi-finals and finals on day two (26th February).

The semi-finals were a 3-team showdown, while the first round of the finals was an elimination battle. It was essentially a rapid-fire back and forth between the teams. If any of the contestants could not speak for more than five seconds, they were ‘eliminated’ and could not speak for the rest of the round.

The second round of the finals had a remarkable twist, as it was held in a block and tackle format, with the players having to alternate between roasting and praising their opponents on the call of “block” or “tackle.” 

Mic-drop (LitClub)

The mic-drop event, also held by the Literature Club, immediately followed RoastPlay. This was a much more relaxed event in which anyone could perform. Many people came up with performances such as stories, poems, stand-up routines, and soul-touching shayaris.

While it wasn’t as large-scale as the other events, the attendees seemed to have had a fantastic time. In fact, they seemed to enjoy it so much that they requested the club to hold such an event every month! 

Bit Hunting (ERC)

This event was held by the Electronics and Robotics Club. This followed a quiz-style format, with six interesting yet challenging questions centred on electronics and campus knowledge. Each question presented a different scenario in an overarching story of a vaccine drive on campus.

The quiz lasted for around two hours. A total of 33 teams registered, out of which 17 teams managed to solve some of the questions, while four teams managed to solve all six questions. 

Desh-विदेश Quiz (Language Club and TVRQC)

A quiz that takes you around the world — that pretty much sums up the Desh-Videsh Quiz, held jointly by the Language Club and the TV Room Quiz club. It consisted of a preliminary round followed by the finals. 

The prelims round consisted of a twelve-question quiz testing general knowledge about landmarks, languages, and food from around the world. The participants who qualified for the finals would get a ‘visa’ and be taken on a ‘trip all over the globe’ right from the comfort of their homes.

The finals were conducted on Discord and consisted of four enticing rounds themed around Indian and European heritage and culture and world languages. The final round consisted of four segments of three questions each. Each segment of the last round was about a different country, and each country was from a different continent. The questions covered all kinds of topics, from jalebis and sarees to the Ethiopian calendar, and put to the test the ability of the participants to identify hidden connections. (Dan Brown could have taken tips from the organizers!)

Talks with Amol Parashar and Shweta Tripathi Sharma

Day 2 of Felicity ’21 also featured talks with actors Amol Parashar of Tripling and Shweta Tripathi Sharma of Mirzapur. They were asked multiple questions regarding their acting careers, their college lives, and updates on the shows they were acting in. Amol Parashar was even asked for tips on how to kick-start one’s love life! Among a variety of topics, they reminisced about their times in college and gave their thoughts and opinions on their transition to their acting careers. It was quite an enjoyable session overall.

Machine Learning Workshop

The ML workshop was conducted as a precursor to the upcoming ML battleground event. It was oriented towards beginners, and only a basic knowledge of Python was required. The workshop was hosted by two students – Kanish Anand and Avani Gupta. It was held in two parts. Day one (Part 1) covered Neural Networks, CNNs, Code Walkthrough of Vision & NLP Models, and various other cool techniques to get better results. Day two (Part 2) covered the topic of GANs (Generative Adversarial Networks) and covered the topic in detail, from beginner to advanced level. The workshop was attended mostly by UG1 and UG2, with a total count of 140 participants. It was very well-received as a whole.

Improvise – Frivolous Humour Club

This event conducted by the FHC consisted of teams trying their hand at improv comedy. Various humorous scenarios were given to the team, where the members had to act the scenario out without any preparation. This served as a gentle but fun introduction to the tough art that is Improv.

The event was an hour long with around 50 spectators! Since the event was open, teams were formed mid-event to take part in it. Six teams ended up trying to improvise on the given prompts, resulting in a fun and engaging event!
